Accra, Nov.18, GNA – Dr. Peter Obeng, Executive Director of the Ghana Blind Union (GBU), the mother body of the Ghana Blind Sports Association (GBSA) is positive about winning the 2021 International Blind Sports Association (IBSA) African Championship.

Ghana is set to host the 2021 edition of the Championship to be held at the sports complex of the Cape Coast University starting December 3-11, 2021, with Nigeria, Egypt, Algeria, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, and Morocco participating.

Speaking at the launch of the 2021 IBSA African championship in Accra on Wednesday, Dr. Obeng assured Ghanaians of winning the ultimate when the tournament kick starts and hopefully qualify for the World Championships in China next year.

He said that persons who are blind have massive potential to exhibit their skills and make Ghana proud by winning laurels.

Dr. Obeng called upon all stakeholders to give their support as they have done to other sporting disciplines and also appealed to all to recognise the event as a national event.

Mr. Eric Kissi, President of GBSA lauded the efforts of the National Sports Authority (NSA) and National Paralympic Committee (NPC) for their immense support for the successful bidding process for the tournament to be hosted in Ghana.

This he said would aid in the development of blind sport in the nation to increase the interest of visually impaired people to take up sports to reduce the beggars on our roads.
