1,579 Candidates to sit BECE in Akatsi South- GES

Akatsi (VR), Nov. 13, GNA- A total of 1,579 candidates are expected to write the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta region.







The figure is made up of 781 males and 798 females who are expected to take part in the examination from Monday, November 15 to Friday, November 19.

The Akatsi South Education Directorate said 1,308 students were from the Public Schools and 271 from the Private Schools in the Municipality.

A statement signed by Mr Mawuli-Vava Kwaku Gagbe, the Municipal Public Relations Officer (PRO) and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the students would write the exams at five Examination Centres across the Municipality.

The statement said five Examination Centre Supervisors and their Assistants as well as 57 invigilators would be deployed to oversee the conduct of the examination.

On preparations, Mr Gagbe said all Supervisors, Assistants Supervisors and Invigilators would visit the centres ahead of time to ensure they were ready for the start of the exam on Monday.

The Invigilators and other actors will also be briefed on the conduct of the exams.

"All candidates and schools writing the exams are also expected to visit their allocated centres to check their index numbers by 1200 hours today," the statement said.

"The Municipal directorate has plans also to station five permanent monitors at the various centres to ensure the smooth running of activities."

"Our hope is that all the candidates and the invigilators would conduct themselves well throughout the entire exams period so we can achieve our aim. We wish all the candidates all the best of success in their Examination," it added.

The GNA learnt that the Municipal Director of Education is expected to lead a team of officials from the Municipal Education Office to monitor the conduct of the exams.
