Guinean stowaway disembarks at Tema Port

Tema, July 2, GNA - Mahamadu Soghou, a Guinean Docker who attempted to stowaway to Europe for greener pastures but failed has been disembarked at the Tema Port.

Sheik Labaran Salifu Bari, Officer in-charge of Intelligence and Investigations at the Tema Port disclosed to the media at Tema that Soghou who works at the Senegalese Port of Dakar boarded the vessel during port operations there.

Sheik Bari said the vessel carrying the stowaway called at the Port of Tema on June 20, 2021 to report that they had one stowaway onboard after one of the crew members discovered him.

He said the Port Security intended to hand him over to the Ghana Immigration Service after its investigations in order to take him to his country where he would face their law.

Sheik Bari noted that Soghou surprisingly decided to stowaway without any food and water which he described as dangerous adding that some of them do not anticipate the repercussions of their actions when deciding to embark on such activities.

He urged the youth to desist from the practice of stowaway since it was a dangerous venture with consequences.
